Vibroacoustic Therapy

What Is Vibroacoustic Therapy?

Vibroacoustic therapy is a passive, non-invasive form of low-frequency sound and vibration therapy delivered through a specially built table or cushion, distinct from a sound bath you simply listen to from across the room. Here's how Euflourish describes the experience:

This is not a sound bath you listen to from a distance. In a vibroacoustic session you lie fully clothed on a table with transducers built into it. Or, use the vibroacoustic meditation cushion (same concept, just sitting instead of laying). Low-frequency sound waves—typically in the 30–120 Hz range, often centered around 40 Hz—are converted into gentle vibration that you feel through muscle, fascia, and bone at the same time you hear the accompanying audio.

Low-frequency vibration is a bottom-up signal to the nervous system. Mechanoreceptors (especially Pacinian corpuscles) pick it up; many people notice a shift toward parasympathetic “rest-and-digest” quickly - slower breathing, less muscle guarding, quieter mental chatter. Some clients fall asleep. That is allowed.

A session is passive, non-invasive, and fully clothed. You settle in, optional eye cover and headphones, and the frequency runs. You do not have to meditate, visualize, or perform. The vibration is doing the heavy lifting.

Sensory integration

What It Feels Like

A soft, wave-like pulse moving through the body—often described as an internal massage or being “held from the inside.” It is not a vibration plate workout and not percussive massage. Intensity is adjustable.

Who It Pairs Well With

Stress load, sleep disruption, training recovery, somatic reset and anyone who wants a no-touch reset between other modalities (red light, localized cryo, compression).

Wellness support, not a medical treatment. Individual responses vary.

Our Process

Every vibroacoustic therapy visit at Euflourish Wellness & Recovery follows the same structure, safety and comfort first.

  1. Book your appointment. Call (530) 318-7040 or request a quote online. This service is by appointment only, so booking ahead secures your time.
  2. Quick safety check-in. Your provider confirms you don't have a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device before your first session, since the equipment involved isn't appropriate for that situation without medical clearance.
  3. Get settled. You'll lie down fully clothed on the vibroacoustic table, or sit with the meditation cushion if you prefer. Optional eye cover and headphones are available.
  4. Your session. The low-frequency sound and vibration runs for your chosen session length. Nothing is required of you, no meditating, no visualizing, just settling in.
  5. Ease back into your day. There's no downtime. Many people leave feeling noticeably calmer and more settled.

How Much Does Vibroacoustic Therapy Cost?

Pricing depends on session length and whether you're adding it onto another service or booking it on its own: a 15–20 minute add-on runs about $15, a 15–20 minute standalone session runs about $20, a 30-minute add-on runs about $30, and a 30-minute standalone session runs about $40. Every appointment is self-pay, and HSA is accepted for eligible services.

Vibroacoustic Therapy vs. a Sound Bath

These get confused constantly, and they're genuinely different experiences.

Sound Bath Vibroacoustic Therapy
How you experience it Externally, through your ears Directly, through muscle, fascia, and bone
Delivery method Signing bowls, gongs, played in a room Transducers built into a table or cushion
What it feels like Ambient sound and resonance A wave-like pulse, like being "held from the inside"

Why Choose Us

Why Choose Euflourish Wellness & Recovery

"Does this actually do anything, or is it just lying on a speaker?"

There's real research behind the relaxation and nervous-system benefits. We're honest about what's well-supported and what's still being studied, rather than overselling every possible claim.

"Is this safe if I have a pacemaker?"

Not without medical clearance first, and we'll ask before your first session so there's no guessing.

"Is this the same as a sound bath I've tried before?"

No, and it's a meaningful difference. A sound bath is something you hear. Vibroacoustic therapy is something you feel, directly, through your whole body.

"Will my HSA actually cover this?"

HSA is accepted for eligible services here.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is vibroacoustic therapy?

Vibroacoustic therapy is a passive, non-invasive therapy where low-frequency sound waves, typically in the 30–120 Hz range and often centered around 40 Hz, are converted into gentle vibration you feel through muscle, fascia, and bone while lying fully clothed on a specially built table or cushion.

How much does vibroacoustic therapy cost?

A 15–20 minute add-on runs about $15, a 15–20 minute standalone session runs about $20, a 30-minute add-on runs about $30, and a 30-minute standalone session runs about $40.

Is vibroacoustic therapy safe?

It's generally safe for most people. The one contraindication worth knowing plainly: people with pacemakers or other implanted electronic devices should get medical clearance before a session, since the equipment involved isn't appropriate for that situation without it.

Does vibroacoustic therapy actually work?

There's real research supporting relaxation and nervous-system benefits, including a shift toward the parasympathetic “rest-and-digest” state that many people notice quickly. For more specific medical claims, the evidence varies, and it's worth being cautious of any provider promising it as a cure for a specific condition.

What's the difference between vibroacoustic therapy and a sound bath?

A sound bath is something you hear, externally, through instruments like singing bowls or gongs. Vibroacoustic therapy is something you feel, with vibration delivered directly into your body through transducers built into a table or cushion.

What does a vibroacoustic therapy session feel like?

A soft, wave-like pulse moving through the body, often described as an internal massage or being held from the inside. It's not a vibration plate workout and not percussive massage, and the intensity is adjustable.

Do I have to do anything during the session?

No. The session is entirely passive. You don't have to meditate, visualize, or perform. Many people simply relax, and some fall asleep, which is completely fine.

Who does vibroacoustic therapy pair well with?

It works well alongside other recovery modalities like red light therapy, localized cryotherapy, and compression therapy, and it's also a good no-touch option for stress, sleep disruption, and training recovery on its own.

Is vibroacoustic therapy a medical treatment?

No. It's offered here as wellness support, not a medical treatment, and individual responses vary.

Do I need a doctor's referral?

Generally no for a standard session, though anyone with a relevant health condition, especially an implanted electronic device, should get medical clearance first.
